A “Draw Something” TV Show Is Coming To CBS Soon

Funny. I was just going through my iPhone and deleting apps the other day when I came across “Draw Something”—the game that was super popular a couple months ago and that helped the company OMGPOP make a cool $180 million when the gaming giant Zynga decided to purchase it. I ultimately decided to keep the app on my phone (at least until the next time I go on an app-deleting spree) but it was kinda crazy to think about how far that game fell off in a matter of weeks. I’m still going strong with Words With Friends, but after the initial fun of Draw Something wore off, I lost interest in it and stopped playing. So, it was funny to see it pop back up in the news again in a big way this week.

According to numerous reports, CBS is interested in airing a Draw Something game show produced by Sony Pictures Television, Ryan Seacrest Productions, and Embassy Row. Although there aren’t many details available on the actual show yet—one key detail: Seacrest won’t host the show, but there will be a well-known host—the thought is that Draw Something is the kind of game that would transition very neatly to your TV screen. Since it’s so simple, all the show’s producers need to do is figure out a good scoring system, get some contestants togethers, and let the good times roll.

I’d have to agree that, despite the fall off of the actual game, “Draw Something” is a good game to turn into a game show. The best part about the game was showing other people all of the ridiculous pictures I would draw. It was also funny to see what others would come up with when it was their time to draw. So, if CBS can get that feeling to come across through their game show, they might just have a hit on their hands. And, it also might inspire a whole bunch of people out there to start playing with their Draw Something app again. Funny how that worked out.
