Dwyane Wade’s Ex-Wife Was Arrested & Charged With Attempted Child Abduction Last Weekend

Chris Bosh isn’t the only Miami Heat player going through problems with his ex right now. According to a new report, Dwyane Wade‘s ex-wife Siohvaughn Funches-Wade was arrested on Saturday and charged with attempted child abduction after she allegedly tried to prevent the couple’s two sons from leaving her Chicago home to fly to Miami to be with their dad on Father’s Day. A police report indicates that D-Wade’s sister was scheduled to pick Wade’s sons up from Funches-Wade’s house on Saturday afternoon to take them to the airport for a flight but that Wade’s ex-wife refused to open the doors to let the kids go with their aunt. As a result, she was arrested. Another woman who was in the home at the time, identified as a friend of Funches-Wade, was also arrested and charged with resisting arrest.

“Once again, S.L. has used our minor children as the proverbial pawns in this contentious dissolution of marriage action,” Wade wrote in a petition yesterday in an effort to try and suspend his ex-wife’s visitation rights for the moment. “This court must take action to protect our minor children from further exposure to the present environment S.L. creates while they are in her care and preventing S.L. from exercising her parenting time in a manner that is harmful to our children…The minor children have been subjected to a great deal of drama/trauma as a result of S.L.’s conduct.”

You can say that again. Good grief. Maybe we’re not getting the full story here. Maybe there’s more to it. We’re sure that the situation with D-Wade and his ex-wife is difficult for both of them and the kids as well. But, here’s to hoping that the Wades can figure out something to prevent stuff like this from happening again in the future. Because, this is definitely not a story we’d ever want to hear, let alone one we’d want to hear immediately after Father’s Day. C’mon, guys—get it together for the kids!
