The Ronnie Fieg x New Balance 999 “Steel Blue” Sneakers Drop Today

You already know what sneaker designer Ronnie Fieg is capable of. So, you probably don’t really need us to sell you on his latest creation. But, guess what? We’re gonna do it anyway, because he deserves props for the new sneaker that he was able to put together.

Now, at this point, you’re probably staring at the headline of this post and wondering, “Wait, did they make a mistake? Isn’t that supposed to say Ronnie Fieg x Asics?!” The answer: No. Although Fieg has made a real name for himself over the course of the last year or so with all of his Asics collaborations, his new sneaker is actually a New Balance. But, just like his Asics collaborations, it came out really well.

The official name of the latest Ronnie Fieg sneaker is the Ronnie Fieg x New Balance 999 “Steel Blue.” It features a mixture of premium nubuck, pigskin suede, and leather to form a sneaker that Fieg says was inspired by the New Balance 1300CL. Some of the cool details on the sneaker include a soft leather tongue, “Just Us” written on the sneaker’s eyelets, ABZORB cushioning, and debossed heel and tonuge New Balance branding. The sneakers come with three separate sets of laces in white, grey, and ice.

The good news is that these hit stores today. The bad news is that, at $130, they’re not going to last very long—especially since, in usually Ronnie Fieg fashion, they’re only available at a very limited number of sneaker spots. Fieg also has a special wooden box pack priced at $290, but those will be even harder to get with only 100 handmade boxes being made available to celebrate the release of the sneaker. Still not sold? Check out some additional flicks of the “Steel Blue” sneaker below. For NB fans, these are must-haves. So, get ‘em while you still can.
