A New Charles Schwab Commercial Encourages People Not To Blow All Their Money On Sneakers
If you’re a sneakerhead, how much money would you say you spend on sneakers every year? A thousand bucks? A couple thousand bucks? More “bucks” than you’d care to admit to on the Internet? Well, the good news is that you’re not alone. The sneaker industry rakes in billions of dollars every year, so there are obviously other people out there spending their money on the same thing as you. And, even if you think you’re bad when it comes to spending all of your money on sneakers, there’s someone out there who is even worse. The bad news? That’s not going to help you much when it comes to saving money, investing your savings, and, ultimately, retiring.
Why are we telling you all this? Because Charles Schwab just released a new commercial as part of their “Oh Chuck! I Blew My Cash” contest that’s offering $10,000 in a Schwab account to whoever can come up with the best story about how they blew their cash. The commercial is tailored specifically to sneakerheads who spent all of their hard-earned money on sneakers. Check it out here:
Pretty funny, eh? Also pretty damn true. Maybe you’re not exactly like the guy in this particular commercial. But, if you’re spending a boatload of cash every year on sneakers and you’re not doing anything with them except storing them in a container, there are better things that you could be doing with your money. Point being: If you’re collecting sneakers just to re-sell them at some point in the future to make a profit, why not try scooping up some stocks?
We know, we know. No one is gonna say, “Yo, where’d you get those stocks!?!” when you’re out at the mall. But, still: This is something to consider. Thanks for the words of advice, “Chuck.”
