Sorry, The Big Lebowski 2 News Is Blatantly Fake
Dudes all across the country have been mocked by Big Lebowski sequel rumors before, but this one seems both outrageously fake and kinda awesome. A very serious sounding site called SuperOfficialNews.com reported that Lebowski 2 was in the works… and the story got picked up by CBS Los Angeles.
Picking up on a story from SuperOfficialNews.com (which sources “The Ass Press”) CBS Los Angeles invites fans of The Big Lebowski to “lift up your white russian!” According to the post, Jeff Bridges, John Goodman, John Turturro, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Julianne Moore are allegedly on board for a Lebowski sequel called The Big Lebowski 2: The Dude Goes To Washington.
The premise has it that the local bowling alley is being turned into a parking garage and only The Dude’s son (Jesse Eisenberg), as the world’s youngest Congressman, can help.
Oh man… that actually sounds kinda awesome. Eisenberg would be the perfect compliment to the pre-existing cast, so I can at least understand how someone would want to believe this (although “Ass News” probably should have been a giveaway).
Unfortunately, Movieline also explains that the Coen Brothers not only have no interest in a sequel, but don’t even like discussing the film. And Jeff Bridges is too busy winning Oscars and trying to kill Tony Stark.
