Naomi Watts was caught on set of the new film Caught In Flight dressed as Princess Diana recently. The 43-year-old actress was the spitting image of the British royal while filming scenes from the biopic in London. In the image above, Watts recreates Diana’s arrival to the Royal Opera house.

“It is such an honor to be able to play this iconic role,” said Watts in an official statement. “Princess Diana was loved across the world and I look forward to rising to the challenge of playing her on screen. She is a part of our history, an incredible woman and fascinating but a tragic ending.”

Directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel and written by Stephen Jeffreys, Caught in Flight focuses on the last two years of Princess Diana’s life and heavily centers upon her love affair with Dr. Hasnat Kahn played by Lost star Naveen Andrews.

“I don’t think anyone else could have done it,” said Andrews. “There’s no one else. Whenever you work, usually if something has a chance or the potential to be good, it usually starts with a good script and I’m very happy with the script and Naomi is doing it and she’s wonderful. I’m very much looking forward to shooting.”

Princess Diana died at the age of 36 in a Paris car crash in 1997. Check out another image as Watts as Princess Diana below. Do you she is a dead ringer for the royal?
