Kristen Stewart Looks Stunning In A New Balenciaga Perfume Ad

Back in January, Twilight star Kristen Stewart was named the new face of Balenciaga‘s “Florabotanica” perfume. And, after months of anticipation, the campaign for the high-end fragrance,  shot by famed photographer Steven Meisel, has finally arrived.

“I’m very lucky that I like the fragrance, because I would have done anything with [Balenciaga designer Nicolas Ghesquière] and I’m a terrible liar,” Stewart confessed in a recent interview with WWD. “There is something natural about it. It’s very alive. I think that as a young person wearing it—considering that I’ve never worn a scent—it kind of puts you on this level of, like, ‘Whoa, check me out.’ On a base level, the reason you want to wear a fragrance is because you want to smell attractive. That in itself is a pretty mature idea, especially considering the teenager I was. I was never the one wearing my mom’s perfume and trying to be sexy. I was like hanging out with my brothers and doing the opposite of that.”’

Ghesquière echoed Stewart’s sentiments, stating he was excited to work with one of Hollywood’s fastest rising stars. “Kristen embodies the modernity of the new Balenciaga fragrance with her unique sensibility and intelligence,” he said. “I’ve always wished to collaborate with her further, knowing that she shares the radical spirit of Balenciaga. I remember thinking, ‘Wow, I would like to do something with her one day. She’s so Balenciaga.”

Despite revealing that as a teenager she rarely spritzed herself with perfume, Stewart was happy to pop her perfume cherry with Balenciaga. “I love Balenciaga fashion because it’s incredibly forceful, yet feminine and sexy,” Stewart said in an official press release. “I found out there was a real creative freedom about this project. I feel blessed and really proud of being the face of this new fragrance.”

“Florabotanica,” which features notes of vetiver, amber and caladium-leaf accord, a (hybrid) rose, carnation and mint accord, hits stores in September. Will you be buying it?
