Would You Rock A Pair Of Spalding Basketball Sneakers Endorsed By Jimmer Fredette?
Last we heard, Spalding was having a little bit of trouble keeping the three NBA players they’d given endorsement deals to in their sneakers. At the end of last year—during the beginning of the 2011-12 NBA season following the NBA lockout—Jimmer Fredette, Mario Chalmers, and Chris Singleton all agreed to rock Spaldings on the court during NBA games. But, after just a few games in them, all three opted for sneakers from bigger brands. So, we sort of assumed that they were not gonna give a cosign to Spalding. But, it seems that that hasn’t deterred Spalding from moving forward with their sneaker line.
In fact, not only has Spalding not slowed down. But, the company—probably known best for its production of high-quality basketballs—has actually given one of those players his own signature sneaker that just hit stores. No surprise here, they gave Fredette, the former BYU college basketball superstar, a special Spalding Splash PE sneaker that features a high-abrasion rubber outsole and “Jimmer” stamps on the soles of both sneakers. It’s currently available in both a white/purple and a black/purple colorway and, fortunately, Spalding didn’t get too fancy with the design elements of this sneaker.
All of that being said, we’ve still gotta ask: Is there any chance that you’re actually going to rock these on the court this summer? We might take a chance on them, just to see how they perform. But, at $90, these aren’t really priced low enough to get people super interested in trying them out. But, if you happen to be a huge Jimmer fan—or you just want to be the first one at your local Y with a pair of Spaldings—they’re available to buy now.
Oh, and, before you ask, we’re pretty sure they’re not gonna make you shoot like Jimmer. Nice try, though.
