Daniel Tosh Apologizes- Sort Of
Daniel Tosh, the host of Comedy Central’s Tosh.0, has made a career for himself making audience laugh at things they shouldn’t. But this week, he is offering a rare apology… sort of.
At a show at LA’s famous Laugh Factory, Tosh took the stage and reportedly began discussing rape jokes and how they were funny. A women took offense a called out to the comic, who then responded. A friend of the women relayed the events on her Tumblr:
I yelled out, ‘Actually, rape jokes are never funny! Then, he says, ‘Wouldn’t it be funny if that girl got raped by like, 5 guys right now? Like right now? What if a bunch of guys just raped her…’ and I, completely stunned and finding it hard to process what was happening but knowing i (sic) needed to get out of there, immediately nudged my friend, who was also completely stunned, and we high-tailed it out of there… It was humiliating, of course, especially as the audience guffawed in response to Tosh, their eyes following us as we made our way out of there.
The issue went viral after being posted to the anonymous account.
Later, Tosh tweeted an apology to his over six million Twitter followers.
all the out of context misquotes aside, i’d like to sincerely apologize j.mp/PJ8bNs

But the accusation of “out of context misquotes” seemed to add an edge to the statement. Tosh didn’t help the “sincerity” of his apology when he tweeted moments later:
the point i was making before i was heckled is there are awful things in the world but you can still make jokes about them. #deadbabies

At least one source says there is a different account of the events, but Tosh has not shared his side of the story yet.
What do you think of the situation?

One in six women has been raped. That’s why rape jokes aren’t funny.
