A collective gasp swept fans of NBC’s Community when it was revealed that series creator Dan Harmon would not be brought back for season 4. After all of the quirky storylines that helped make the show a favorite for many, the removal of Harmon had us thinking that the removal of the show from NBC’s schedule may not be too far behind. With the show now being run by David Guarascio and Moses Port (Happy Endings), the panel at Comic Con might have been a little scary considering that more than a few fans could be considered hostile.

Fortunately, those who got a chance to check out the panel saw that fans were just happy to see the cast as Joel McHale, Alison Brie, Danny Pudi, Yvette Nicole Brown, and Gillian Jacobs joined writers Megan Ganz and Andy Bobrow along with executive producer Russ Kransoff to discuss where season four will be heading. With fans’ questions limited and the cast being somewhat hush hush, Guarascio explained that he is not going to ruin what Harmon began. “We care about keeping it the weird, wonderful gem that it’s always been and that’s not going to change,” he said while citing that he’s been a big fan of the show since day one. The rest of the cast joked with the crowd but could do nothing more than speculate on where the next season is heading. They did discuss some of the payoff jokes that fans have stayed on top of (like the awesome ”Beetlejuice” reveal…google it) will continue and some of the storylines will continue with new flare (Troy and Britta’s relationship?). We may even get to meet Jeff’s dad and visit Pierce’s mansion.

There were no clips of the new season as the show doesn’t go into production until later this summer but it appears that NBC and the producers know that fans will riot if the show gets screwed up.

You can all exhale now.
