Here Are The Sneakers LeBron James Was Going To Wear During The 2010 NBA Slam Dunk Contest
Now that LeBron James is officially an NBA champion, maybe the league can finally convince him to take part in a slam dunk contest. We wouldn’t hold our breath, but wouldn’t it be nice to see him take part in an event that he would obviously dominate? With all the criticism the dunk contest has received in recent years, it’d help to give it a much-needed boost and help King James add another award to his trophy case. So, we hope he seriously considers taking part in the dunk contest during the 2013 NBA All-Star Weekend.
But, the truth is that LeBron almost did participate in the dunk contest once before—before ultimately deciding to back out. Even though he guaranteed that he’d take part in the 2010 NBA Slam Dunk Contest and even sounded like he’d be participating in the contest just a couple of weeks before it was set to go down, he pulled out at the last minute. But, to prove that he really was serious about taking part in the festivities in 2010, Nike just released a photo of a Nike Air Max LeBron VII “Slam Dunk Contest” PE—the very sneaker that LBJ would have worn during the 2010 dunk contest if he hadn’t decided to pull out of it. As you can see, the blue, perforated upper, the speckled outer sole, and the shiny blue patent leather were all pretty dope aspects of this sneaker that’s never really been seen before by those outside of the Nike campus.
So, will LeBron give it another go next season? Will he try and participate in the 2013 dunk contest now that all of the pressure is off him? Will he sign up and unleash some thunderous dunks on the All-Star crowd? We’ll have to wait and see. But, if he does decide to participate, one thing is for sure: Nike will come through with another great sneaker for him. For that alone, we hope he signs up. What do ya say, LBJ?
