Can Your iPhone Hammer Nails?

There must be an app for that. A video of the OPPO Finder smartphone shows the device doing something I wouldn’t try with any Apple (or Nexus or HTC) product: hammering nails into a plank of wood, and remaining unharmed and functional.

Up to now, the OPPO Finder had been known only as “the thinnest smartphone” on the market, at only 6.65mm (that’s two less than the iPhone 4S). But it proves here that thin doesn’t have to mean flimsy. Imagine getting a phone with such a slim profile, and not having to stuff it in an OtterBox to protect your investment!

Of course, some have suggested the video is fake, and anything is possible. The cutaway just before the screen turns on is particularly suspicious. But the actual hammering looks real, and even if the phone is turned off, it looks amazingly unharmed.

If you’d like to get a very pricey hammer, the OPPO Finder is available for 2498 yen ($393). Or, you can download the “Hammer Nail” app in the Apple App Store for $0.99.

Would you buy the OPPO Finder?
