If you’re like us, every other day—or, if you’re really unlucky, every day—you sign onto Facebook and you’re bombarded with spam on your page featuring fake Air Jordan sneakers. From Jordans that light up in the dark to Jordans with colorways that you’ve never seen before to Jordans with cheap-looking designer labels plastered across the side of them, there is someone out there making a pretty little profit off fake Air Jordans. Otherwise, we figure those spam messages wouldn’t be as prevalent as they are right now. But, what happens when a real Air Jordan looks fake?

Well, that’s what a lot of sneaker bloggers thought recently when new photos of a new Nike Air Jordan 7 Retro dropped on the Internet to a ton of speculation. The photos of the sneaker appeared to be official. But, the AJ7 looked almost like it was fake because of the “Patchwork” design that so many fakes have. As you can see in the photos provided here, the new AJ7 features a stitched pattern in both Filbert and Obsidian colorways. Are they interesting? Sure. But, they’re also sort of suspect, especially when you compare them to other Jordans out there that have been proven to be fake.

At any rate, these Jordan retro sneakers will be dropping very soon (and not through your favorite bootlegger, either!). They’re scheduled to hit stores on August 4 and will retail for a hefty $175. We’re not so sure if we’re ready to cosign these things yet—can you imagine all the questions you’ll have to answer from sneakerheads who aren’t up on them yet?—but we will be keeping a close eye on these to see how everyone else out there reacts to them.
