We recently reported the rumors of actress Kristen Stewart, 22, and director Rupert Sanders, 41, hooking up which now appear to be true.

In a horrible way to finally admit (after three years) she’s been in a relationship with Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson, Stewart issued an official “apology” to People magazine yesterday.

“I’m deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I’ve caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected. This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I’m so sorry.”

Sanders (who directed Stewart in Snow White & The Hunstman) immediately followed suit with, “I am utterly distraught about the pain I have caused my family. My beautiful wife and heavenly children are all I have in this world. I love them with all my heart. I am praying that we can get through this together.”

While there’s something to be said for coming clean about their indiscretions, they obviously shouldn’t have occurred in the first place. It will be interesting to see how Pattinson reacts to all of this (Sanders’ model wife Liberty Ross has already tweeted the word “Wow” and shut down her account), especially considering Stewart and Pattinson will be promoting Breaking Dawn Part 2 to cap off the Twilight Saga on November 16.
