Would You Wear A Mermaid Body Swimsuit?

Ever since Disney‘s The Little Mermaid made a splash on the big screen, stars like Lady Gaga, Paris Hilton, Katy Perry, and, most recently, Azealia Banks have paid homage to the ethereal sea creature. And if you, like me, have fantasized about being a mermaid (and making out with your own Prince Eric!), fret no further.
A company in Vancouver by the name of 3 Fins has created a line of mermaid-inspired swimsuits to help you make a splash this summer. According to the designer, Monika Naumann, her creations were inspired by her three daughters, who are obsessed with all-things mermaid.
“They are created to fit your unique size and include a comfortable, durable, and sturdy custom made mono-fin,” she says in her website. “They are made to swim in as the material used is top of the line swimsuit fabric. Each of the fabrics are very sparkly and reflective and look beautiful when worn in and out of the water. Make a girls Mermaid dreams a reality with a gorgeous custom-made tail. A special and unique gift that will bring happiness and fun times to all who wear it!”
But, before your dreams of swimming under the sea are realized, you’ll have to fork over a pretty penny. Offered in glistening hues of green, red, blue, orange, and fushia-pink, the swimsuits retail for $245, not including shipping and handling. But, with the promise to offer a great workout and the ability to help you swim faster in the water, the price might be well worth it—assuming, of course, you are willing to risk the embarrassment of showing up at your local watering hole in a mermaid tail.
