At this point, there are tons of rappers who have or have had their own sneakers. From 50 Cent and Jay-Z to Snoop Dogg and (of course!) Kanye West, there have been plenty of them over the years. But, one rapper just announced that he is gearing up to put out his own sneaker and it’s probably not who you’re thinking.

After rocking PRO-Keds heavy for years and eventually getting the opportunity to meet some of the guys who run PRO-Keds today, Cormega has announced that he will be getting his own PRO-Keds Royal Lo sneaker soon. And, before you clown him for wearing PRO-Keds and agreeing to create a PRO-Keds sneaker—we can hear you making jokes already!—take a look at this clip that features ‘Mega explaining exactly why he wanted to have his own PRO-Keds sneaker:

As you can see, ‘Mega has some pretty solid reasons for teaming up with PRO-Keds. For starters, he’s been a big fan of the brand for years now. He’s been rocking them since he was a kid. And, while others have flocked to Converse, he realizes that, once upon a time, PRO-Keds were one of the flyest sneakers on the market. So, he wants to get down with the brand.

To start off, he’s created the sneaker you see above that features a green suede upper, two white stripes on the side, and Cormega’s signature in white back towards the heel. Unfortunately, you probably won’t have a chance to get your hands on these as only 50 pairs will be released. But, ‘Mega does have plans t  release an entire PRO-Keds line sometime in the future. So, stay tuned. He might not be the rapper you’d think would get a sneaker line. But, he’s ready to make some moves.

What do you think about his first attempt at designing a sneaker?
