Ryan Lochte Sported A Pair Of adidas Originals x Jeremy Scott Wings 2.0 “Stars & Stripes” At The Olympics
Over the course of the last few weeks, we’ve showed you at least half a dozen pairs of sneakers that were created specifically to help you represent Team USA during the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. From super patriotic ASICS sneakers to different Nike makeups that some of the Team USA basketball players will be wearing during the Olympic Games, we’ve tried to include a little bit of everything to show you what sneaker companies are making available right now. But, the truth is that the most patriotic sneakers of all were already released back in February. They are the adidas Originals x Jeremy Scott Wings 2.0 “Stars & Stripes.” And, if you’re looking to make a statement about your love for the good old US of A, these are the sneakers to do it.
At least one prominent U.S. athlete is using them to rep his country, too. Over the weekend, Ryan Lochte stepped out in a pair before winning his first gold medal during the Olympics. Already being heralded as one of the guys who has had a memorable Olympic Games—despite the fact that there are still medals out there for him to win!—Lochte snapped a picture of himself wearing the “Stars & Stripes” sneakers at the pool in London. He also told the New York Times recently that he’s a big sneakerhead.
“I think I have about a total of 130 pairs of shoes,” he said. “So, you can say I like shoes.”
These have to be one of the coolest pairs in his collection. And, we’re glad he pulled them out. Not only are they disgustedly dope. They’re also obviously very patriotic and something that only U.S. athletes can wear. We bet there were more than a few guys at the pool who wished that adidas would make a pair that repped for their country, too. We’re sorry, though, guys. These are for us. And, we’re sure glad they are.
