Drake, Rihanna, Kanye & More Up For MTV VMA’s
Drake and Rihanna lead the pack of nominees for the MTV Video Music Awards this year, which should make for a very interesting show.
The alleged former lovers have five nominations each and are both up for Video of the Year, with Drake’s “Take Care” video going up against Rihanna’s “We Found Love” (the latter definitely being the better video, in our opinion). Katy Perry‘s “Wide Awake,” Gotye‘s “Somebody That I Used to Know” and M.I.A.‘s “Bad Girls” are also in the running.
Ri Ri’s also up to win Best Female Video and Best Pop Video for “We Found Love” plus the “Where Have You Been” video scored nominations in the Best Visual Effects and Best Choreography categories. Drake’s “Take Care” will also compete in the Best Male Video, Best Art Direction and Best Cinematography categories, while “HYFR” with Lil Wayne is nominated in the Best Hip-Hop Video category.
Perry received four nods this year with Beyoncé, Coldplay, Frank Ocean, M.I.A. and Jay-Z/Kanye West (“The Throne”) following closely with three each.
The MTV Video Music Awards will air live on September 6 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
