Floyd Mayweather Gets Early Release From Jail

It looks like Floyd Mayweather will get to resume his boxing career sooner than he expected.

Clark Country records show that the 35-year-old #1 pound-for-pound boxing kingpin will be released from jail on Friday (August 3) for good behavior. Mayweather will have spent two months in a Clark County Detention Center rather than the 90-day sentence he was originally saddled with. The jail sentence stems from a September 2010 domestic dispute with the mother of three of his children, Josie Harris. Mayweather took a plea deal in order to avoid a trial on felony charges that could have made a significant impact on his boxing career. Instead, Mayweather will have paid his debt to society by spending 60 days behind bars.

While he was away, his good buddy 50 Cent began making moves to become a boxing promoter as he acquired his boxing promoter’s license in New York and applied for one in Las Vegas. TMT Promotions (The Money Team) has already inked Yuriorkis Gamboa, and Andre Dirrell and is in pursuit of several more names to add to the list. Mayweather will likely join 50 Cent in the promotional venture sooner than later.

Although Mayweather voiced interest in fighting again in 2012, it is not likely he will do so considering the time it takes for him to promote a fight and the fact that he has been unable to workout like he is used to.
