Did You See Serena Williams Crip Walk After Winning Olympic Gold?
Apparently, some are pissed off that Serena Williams celebrated winning a gold medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics by C-Walking. After she completely wrecked Maria Sharapova in just over an hour, Williams was elated and Crip Walked as her older sister Venus watched with a huge smile stretched across her face.
The internet lit up with some blasting the tennis player for her celebratory dance. LA Times sports columnist Bill Plaschke hit Twitter with his gripes. “Isn’t there some kind of dance done by multi-millionaires who live in exclusive South Florida neighborhoods? Serena C-walking at Wimbledon only shows how long she’s been away from home, separated from violence and death associated with that dance,” he tweeted. He wasn’t the only one as others said that her performance of a “murder dance” was deplorable.
But was it really that bad? Is Serena celebrating death? You be the judge.

No comment on how impressive her Olympic run was?
She wasn’t playing just amateurs, but other world ranked players and was pretty much breezing through scarcely yielding any points.
Don’t hate. She’s one of the most dominant tennis players of all time!
Serena Crip Walkin?
And where, pray tell, did Crips get their walk dance? Try church sisters shouting & dancing in the isles. My initial thought when I first viewed “Crip Walking” videos on YouTube was that they were making fun of catching the holy ghost. I bet the originators of Crip Walking grew up seeing moms, granmoms, aunties and the church lady doing their sanctified walk. I suspect when their mommas saw them doing it years ago, they told them, “Boy, don’t you play with the Lord”
I say the Crips co-opted it for their own, added slick moves & it went viral.
Fantastic videos from around the world show some serious Crip Walk skills…pure entertainment! Especially a mixed race crew in Paris… phenominal dancing.
But I swear the “walk” looks like Crips caught the holy ghost extended version. Put in some gospel praise background music & you got a church service. I like it & I’m a senior citizen. No disrespect or playa hatin, just some observations. These guys saw a good thing of jubilation and they improvised. Maybe its time to snatch it back & have a holy rolling, shouting good time…crip walking.
It is not that serious! Actually it pays credit to the creativity in Crips to find joy in church dance, make it their own & take it to the street. People of all races around the world now “Crip Walk “. Even the Olympics thanks to Serena. Shout out to the US sisters winning the gold against France…they did their “walk” too. Are we seeing a trend here? Hallelujah & praise the Lord. Heres to all the good the church does….winding up in the streets! Peace.
