Barnes & Noble Slashes Nook Prices
Watch out, Kindle- Barnes & Noble slashed the prices for all of its popular Nook readers on Sunday, setting up the devices to move.
The biggest discount comes to the most expensive model, the 16GB Nook Tablet. The price was cut $50, from $249 to $199. Prices for the Nook Color and Nook Tablet were both reduced $20, to $149 and $179, respectively.
Many factors might have contributed to the reduction. While Amazon’s Kindle Fire is still a major player in the 7-inch tablet market, Barnes & Noble could be reacting to the Nexus 7. The Google-backed tablet from Asus came out in June, and has been garnering positive reviews. The retailer could also be eyeing the mini-iPad that has been rumored for months (and months).
On the other hand, industry sources say B&N will introduce a new Kindle soon, just in time for back-to-school season. In that case, they could be clearing out their existing stocks.
What do you think? Is this deal worth it?
