Awesome 1995 Student Video Envisions Modern Internet

Any collection of the visionaries of modern computer technology would have to include Tim Berners-Lee, Steve Jobs, and… 5th graders from Montana?

This PSA from the Ray Bjork School in Helena is making the rounds on the very same internet that the students praised 17 years ago, and seems to prove that these were some very forward thinking 10-year-olds.

But were they right about all the things that the internet would be by the time they got to college, which would have been about 2003? Skype was originally created in that year, bringing internet phone calls to the masses, so that’s affirmative. E-commerce was already well under way when the students filmed their video, and Amazon.com went online that same year.

But television on the computer? Hulu, Netflix Streaming, and even YouTube were all still a few years away in 2003. But Internet streaming technology did certainly exist by then, so I say it counts!

In fact, if these kids made one mistake, it’s drastically understating the amount of cats on the internet.

What do you think? What are your internet predictions for the next decade?
