Kevin Durant’s Nike Zoom KD IV “Gold Medal” Sneakers Shine Bright
At the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London, Kevin Durant was, in a word, unstoppable. Seriously. Although just about everyone on Team USA enjoyed at least one really good game during the basketball tournament at the Olympics, KD stole the show by consistently putting up a large number of points every single time that the team played and eventually finishing with 156 points overall—a new record for most points ever scored during the Olympic tournament. He set a new American record, too, by hitting 30 three-pointers during the tournament. So, it was only right that Nike put together a special makeup of his Nike Zoom IV sneaker to celebrate Team USA winning the gold medal.
Although KD is already starting to wear the Nike Zoom KD V sneakers out in public—he wore them during an interview shortly after Team USA won gold—Nike is preparing to release the Nike Zoom KD IV “Gold Medal” sneaker in the United States after an initial release overseas. As you can see, the “Gold Medal” features a shiny golden upper with hits of Team USA-inspired red and blue accents. There are also purple insoles inside of the “Gold Medal” sneakers that are inspired by the ribbons that come attached to the actual Olympic gold medals. And, the midsole of the sneaker has gold specks in it with a translucent outsole.
If you’re a fan of KD—or you just want to turn plenty of heads with your sneakers—then you’re going to want to try and cop of pair of these sometime this month. We’re not sure when they’ll hit the States, but they’re already popping up overseas, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see a couple pairs show up on eBay soon. Keep your eyes peeled for these as they’re sure to go quickly. And, it’s not everyday that an athlete does something so crazy that they get their own gold sneaker. So, if you’re into them, try and get a pair while you still can.
