Check Out Azealia Banks’ Banned Dazed & Confused Magazine Cover
The Internet was abuzz last week when word spread that Azealia Banks‘ Dazed & Confused magazine would be banned in a whopping seven countries based on the crazy cover shot.
“Just been told our upcoming @AZEALIABANKS cover has been banned from 7 countries so far,” the editors of the magazine tweeted. “Thank God for the Internet, huh?”
So, what exactly could the 21-year-old rapper be doing on the cover that would garner such condemnation? Well, the cover has arrived and it’s not what you might expect. Shot by famed photographer Sharif Hamza, the “Van Vogue” rapper wears a Balmain Jacket and a Beyond Retro Hoodie. The problem? Instead of smoking a cigar, the rising star is puffing on a condom fashioned to look like a cigar. The suggestive cover line simply reads, “Azealia Banks Blows Up.”
Ehhh. We think all of the controversy is much ado about nothing and the Harlem rapper seemed to agree by heralding the magazine’s arrival on Twitter. “YAY!! THE DAZED AND CONFUSED COVER FEATURING MOI HAS BEEN RELEASED!!!!!” Azealia tweeted.
Check out some stylish photos from Azealia’s photo spread below as she models goods from Lanvin, Chanel, Cartier, and more. Do you think the cover is worthy of being banned—or is this controversy silly?
