Kids Are Already Lined Up In New York City For The Nike Air Jordan “Gold Medal” Pack

Ah, you’ve gotta love the world we live in these days! If kids have to wait for more than a minute for someone to text them back, they’re all, “Forget this! This person is getting deleted from my phone!” So impatient. But, when it comes to waiting outside of stores for sneakers to drop, they’ll wait for days, even weeks at a time and risk getting mugged, stabbed, or worse just for the chance to cop a pair of kicks that no one else that they know has. It’s kind of crazy when you think about it. But, hey, like we said, that’s the world we live in. And, as long as sneakers sell for thousands of dollars on eBay, that’s the way things are going to go.

The latest example of this is taking place as we speak. On Saturday morning, the Nike Air Jordan “Gold Medal” Pack will be released at sneaker shops all across the country for those who can manage to snag a pair. And, already, kids have started gathering outside of those shops waiting for Saturday to come. Just check out this kid (captured by Animal) who was first in line for the “Gold Medal” Pack outside of the Modell’s in Times Square yesterday. He proudly proclaimed that he was first—and said that he wouldn’t be giving up his spot for anyone, regardless of how much money he was offered.

Mind you, this kid looks like he’s about 10 years old (okay, okay, so he’s 15!). but, regardless, it’s clear that he wasn’t even around back when Michael Jordan won a gold medal! And yet, he’s intent on getting the “Gold Medal” Pack so that he can wear the Js inside (which, we do have to admit, is kind of nice to hear). What do you think about this kind of behavior? We know that kids have waited way longer than a few days for sneakers in the past (remember those guys who lined up outside stores in Cali for the Nike Air Yeezy 2 months before they actually dropped?!). But, this kid is only 15. Shouldn’t he be spending his summer doing something better than this?
