Rihanna Talks Confusion Caused By Chris Brown Beating, Chris Confused About Why She Keeps Bringing It Up

This Sunday’s episode of Oprah’s Next Chapter featuring Rihanna is must-see TV!!! During the extremely candid interview, the Barbadian beauty talks about her concern for her ex Chris Brown in the wake of their infamous 2009 altercation that left her a bruised and bloodied mess. She told Oprah:

“I lost my best friend… everything I knew switched — switched in a night. And I couldn’t control that. It’s not easy to interpret on camera, not with the world watching.

I felt like the only person they hate right now is him. It was a weird, confusing space to be in.

Because as angry as I was — as angry and hurt and betrayed — I just felt like he made that mistake because he needed help. And who’s going to help him? Nobody’s going to say he needs help, everybody’s going to say he’s a monster, without looking at the source. And I was more concerned about him.”

This isn’t the first time Rihanna has talked about the incident, which occurred when she and the “Strip” singer got into an argument after leaving Clive Davis‘ pre-Grammy party that year. And although she lived through it and is entitled to speak on it, Chris wishes she would just stop talking about it so they can move forward with their lives. A source told RadarOnline:

“Chris is just confused about Rihanna’s decision to bring up the past again and again — this time in an interview with Oprah. Rihanna has previously given wide ranging interviews about the beating to Diane Sawyer and several print magazines. Chris just doesn’t think it’s productive or relevant to rehash the events since essentially nothing new is being revealed in the interview Rihanna has done with Oprah. Chris doesn’t begrudge Rihanna at all for talking about it but he thinks that in order for them to both move forward and not be defined by that one night, it would be better to stop bringing it up.”

It still perplexes me why dude is always thrown for a loop whenever anyone talks about the situation. As long as he and Rihanna have any degree of relevance and celebrity, people are going to talk about it. Unfortunately, that’s how this fame thing works.

Oprah’s Next Chapter with Rihanna airs Sunday, August 19 at 9 pm on OWN. Check out a preview below:

Chris Brown, obviously Rhi’ is still confused about why you turned on her like a rabid pitbull. Stop being a coward, as usual, and talk about it with her. If she needs to talk about it for an hour or two, sit your axx down, keep your hands to yourself and just listen. Once you two do that, she won’t be bringing it up in public anymore.

It’s understandable why she’d be confused. Poke her in the whiskers one minute, punch her in the nose the next. I can tell you right now, you both drink too much. It’s amazing how civilized, and self-restrained you can be when you’re not a lush.
