Condoleeza Rice Becomes First Woman To Join Augusta Golf Club
There are still historic “social firsts” left in 2012 and former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice just achieved one of them.
The avid golfer has been admitted to the Augusta National Golf Club as its very first female member. Located in Georgia, the famous location (the lush green is home to The Masters tournament) hasn’t allowed women to join its ranks since it first opened in 1933. It only admitted African-American members to its ranks in 1990.
Condoleeza Rice and the Augusta Golf Club are yet to comment on this groundbreaking occasion.
