“Leaked” iPhone 5 Video Parodies Lonely Techies
Comedian Adam Sacks has a great sense of timing: with iPhone 5 rumors reaching a fevered pitch ahead of the anticipated fall release, what better time to take advantage of tech fans desperate for any gossip, while hilariously skewering their obsessions at the same time? Disguised as a leaked “promo video” for the Apple iPhone, Sacks imagines a device built around the only reason that people use technology: to take pictures of food and create the illusion of a meaningful life.
I’d say they have the tone of the Apple promo videos down perfectly, from the stark white setting, to the clean demos, to the oddly upbeat developer.
As for the content… well, I hope that didn’t hit too close to home for anyone. My favorite line: “Within minutes, I had friends telling me how much fun I was having.”
TechCrunch now reports that Verizon employees have been blacked out from taking vacation days for the week following Friday, September 21, suggesting that this is the launch date for the iPhone 5; so it looks like we don’t have a long to wait to see if Sacks’ “predictions” are correct.
