Katy Perry has reportedly rejected a $20 million offer to be a judge on American Idol next season.

While rumors abound the show’s producers have approached everyone from Nicki Minaj to Kanye West and Diddy, they particularly wanted Perry on board and pursued her relentlessly for weeks.

Sources tell TMZ the offer started at $18 million and was then increased to $20 million, for a very quick one-year contract. Perry apparently made it very clear that even the whopping sum of money offered wasn’t enough to entice her; she “didn’t think it was right career choice for her” and wouldn’t make room in her schedule for it.

Mariah Carey has already confirmed she’ll be one of the judges (for $18 million; less than Perry) while the two remaining seats are yet to be announced (Randy Jackson may not be coming back this season).
