Mario Chalmers Says He Is A Top 10 Point Guard, Everyone Laughs
Mario Chalmers has lost his f***ing mind.
But I guess an NBA Championship will do that to you. The Miami Heat point guard never lacked confidence, but that nice little ring he now has is a massive ego boost that will see him saying the craziest things. So when he talked to Bleacher Report’s Peter Emerick, Chalmers was baited into showing his machismo when Emerick asked Chalmers for his take on whether or not Rajon Rondo is the best point guard in the NBA.
Peter Emerick: “Rajon Rondo recently said that he’s the NBA’s top point guard. What are your thoughts on that, and where do you think you rank among all the point guards in the NBA?”
Mario Chalmers: “He’s not the best, but he’s in the top five. There are a lot of great point guards in the league, Deron Williams, Chris Paul and Steve Nash. There are a lot of great guards in the NBA so for him to say he’s the best is a pretty bold statement. I’d say that I [Mario Chalmers] am in the front end of the top 10.”
Peter Emerick: “By the end of your career will you be able to say that you are the best point guard in the NBA?”
Mario Chalmers: “If not the best, than at least one of the best.”
You read that right. Mario Chalmers feels he’s already at the “front end” of the top ten point guards and thinks that he may be the best poing guard in the league when its all said and done. That’s right, a guy who averaged 9.8 points and 3.5 assists last season has vaulted himself to being on par with the likes of Rondo, Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Derrick Rose, Steve Nash, Russell Westbrook, John Wall, Mike Conley, Tony Parker…shall I go on? How many of those names is he better than? None. Hell, he’s not better than Ricky Rubio and Brandon Jennings.
Oh well, you have to believe…right?
