After being seated on that table since season one, Randy Jackson is officially out as a judge on American Idol.

He’ll remain associated with the show in a mentor role as producers feel his long-standing relationship with the brand is too strong to break permanently. As for his replacement, sources tell TMZ that Nicki Minaj‘s alleged deal is “99 percent done.”

As previously reported, Minaj’s new gig as judge apparently isn’t sitting well with Mariah Carey (who has also signed on) and producers are loving the tension already, because they think it will result in even higher ratings.

This new season will see a fourth judge brought back into the fold and while names like Diddy and Kanye West have been tossed around, it appears a big wig from the world of country music is set for the remaining position.
