IT’S FINALLY HERE! Sorry to shout at you first thing in the morning, but we simply can’t contain ourselves. After months and months of waiting, it’s Sunday…and we have NFL games to watch! Although the 2012-13 NFL season technically started on Wednesday night when the Dallas Cowboys beat the New York Giants, today is the real start to the season. So, we’ll spend all day crowding around our TVs, sucking back cold ones, and—ah, saying this feels really nice—watching football.

With that being said, we know it’s only Week 1, but there are some big games on today. And, there are some teams that have to win today if they want to get their seasons off to a good start. Who are they? Well, we put together a list of the 5 Teams That Have To Win Their First Game Of The Season Today. We don’t want to be too dramatic—just a little dramatic, ha—but a loss today could ruin the entire season for these teams. Check out the list, and then go enjoy the games.

1. Philadelphia Eagles

Over the course of the last two weeks, the Birds have turned into one of the sexy picks to make a deep playoff run this year. In order to do that, though—and, in order to keep up in the tough NFC—they need to be able to handle teams like the Cleveland Browns easily. We expect them to, provided of course they can keep Michael Vick healthy.

2. Detroit Lions

A lot of people are expecting the Lions to take a step back after all the success they enjoyed last year. But, they want to show everyone that they’re for real. The first step to doing that is taking care of business against a team like the St. Louis Rams.

3. New England Patriots

So, Pats, you think you can go 16-0? Well, go ahead and prove it by traveling to Nashville and taking on the Tennessee Titans. The Titans are no slouch and could prove to be more of a threat to New England’s undefeated record than a lot of people think.

4. New York Jets

The Jets are already getting ripped apart in the New York Post on a regular basis. So, can you imagine how bad things will get if they struggle at the start of the season? If they want to stay off the Post‘s back page, they better beat the Buffalo Bills at home.

5. Denver Broncos

The Peyton Manning era in Denver will officially begin when the 2012-13 NFL season does. So, how will it go? Well, we’ll be able to tell almost immediately when the Pittsburgh Steelers come to town on Sunday night. It’s the game of the week and the one that everyone will be keeping a close eye on.
