Saturday Night Live Adds Three New Cast Members
Goodbye Kristen Wiig, Abby Elliot, and Andy Samberg, hello Aidy Bryant, Tim Robinson, and Cecily Strong. Replacing three veteran departed cast members, SNL announced new additions to the show this week.
The new performers will join the cast as “Featured Players,” and not in full-fledged “starring” roles. However, not only do featured players often eventually become regular company members, but they have lately provided some of the show’s highlights.
The additions are good news for Chicagoans, as all three hail from The Windy City, and more specifically, the world of Second City improv. While traditionally a big source of SNL talent, many recent new cast members had hailed from New York, especially the Upright Citizens Brigade improv theater.
Buzzfeed collected some existing comedy sketches from Bryant, Robinson, and Strong here.
SNL‘s new season premieres this Saturday with host Seth MacFarlane.
How do you think they’ll do?
