Just over a decade since September 11 (a.k.a. “9/11″), America reflects today on those who were lost and on how so many things changed from that day onward.

Tragedies occur the world over, time and again, but this terrorist attack on U.S. soil struck fear in the heart of the nation for the first time, reminding Americans nowhere is safe in a world where hatred and intolerance thrives.

While many debate whether or not the U.S. is “safer” since the attacks, let’s take a look back at the horrific moments of that day and remember with reverence the lives that were lost. Lest we forget.
