Initial iPhone 5 Pre-Orders Sold Out; What Are Your Options?
The first round of online iPhone 5 pre-orders began selling out in just an hour on Friday, the first day they were available. With shipping dates being pushed back by weeks now, early adopters are looking at other options to get their hands on a device on September 21, the official launch day.
Apple’s own site took only an hour to sell out of iPhone 5′s of all memory sizes and across all carriers that could ship and arrive by September 21. As of Sunday night, shipping dates on the website were listed as “2-3 weeks.”
An Apple spokesperson said the company was “blown away by the customer response.”
AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon are all reportedly sold out of their pre-orders as well.
Walmart and Target are both selling at least the 16GB iPhone 5; no word yet on the condition of their stocks.
CNN also points out that RadioShack is accepting pre-orders in person, and not getting a lot of attention, suggesting this might be a good bet.
For the truly dedicated, lines will begin forming at Apple Stores well in advance of the 21st. The same could occur at other retailers, but Apple Stores will have the biggest in-house stocks.
What will you do to get your iPhone 5 on launch day?
