Big Sean Is Getting His Own Adidas “Detroit Player” Sneaker
Big Sean is enjoying a moment right now. A few weeks ago, he released his Detroit mixtape and it got rave reviews from fans and critics alike. Last week, he played a large role in the release of the G.O.O.D. Music compilation, Cruel Summer, and dropped a memorable freestyle on Hot 97 alongside several of his G.O.O.D. labelmates. He’s also in the studio working on his sophomore album. And, oh yeah, he’s become one of the most vocal and omnipresent Adidas celebrity endorsers. He’s appeared in commercials, done a ton of print ads, and, most recently, he helped design his very own sneaker.
Over the weekend, Sean gave us a sneak peek at his new Adidas sneaker, which has been dubbed the “Detroit Player,” and he let us see exactly what he’s been working on. As you can see here, the “Detroit Player” uses a red base for the entire sneaker, features the classic Three Stripes pattern, and consists almost entirely of a reptilian leather of some sort. From what we can see, it looks like the “Detroit Player” is a mid-cut sneaker and it also appears to have the classic Adidas shell-toe. We don’t see any Big Sean-specific branding on the sneaker, but that doesn’t mean Sean doesn’t have one or two tricks up his sleeve, as we can’t see the entire sneaker in this photo.
As of right now, we’re not sure when Sean and Adidas will release this sneaker to the public. We’re also not sure if it’ll be available to everyone or if Adidas will only be dropping a limited number of pairs of the “Detroit Player.” But, we should know more about them soon. What do you think about them? Do you think Sean has done enough in his career to earn himself a “Detroit Player” sneaker from Adidas?
