Maybe you know her for her role on SiriusXM Radio’s Hip-Hop Nation channel. Or, maybe you know her for all of the interviews she’s conducted online with your favorite rappers. Or, maybe you know her from all the work she’s done as the Lifestyle Manager of Dr. Jay’s Live. But, whatever the case, you know Simone Amelia, a.k.a. “Boss Lady,” who has become a staple of the hip-hop community over the course of the last few years. And now, Boss Lady is set to become a staple of the sneaker community, too, as she just released her very own Boss Lady “Classic Beat” signature sneaker through Reebok Classics.

“The inspiration behind the Reebok shoe I designed is my favorite cartoon heroine Princess Jasmine,” she explains. “I see a lot of myself in the character: a strong, passionate woman of Middle Eastern descent striving to maintain a balance between the fast-paced, crazy world of entertainment I exist in while holding onto tradition and being a role model for young women.”

“For something to be recognized as ‘classic,’ it has to have been judged over time to be of the highest quality,” she continues. “As a brand, Reebok Classics has had a proven and ongoing synergy with youth culture, art, and the streets, representing an unrivaled authenticity.”

Born and raised in Sydney, Australia—and of Lebanese and Cypriot heritage—Boss Lady moved to New York City five years ago and quickly became a familiar face in the music and fashion industries. In addition to her media ventures, her other passion is working with young women through her growing “Team Boss Lady” empowerment movement.

“Reebok Classics believed in me as a media personality and committed to not only producing a ‘Boss Lady’ shoe this year but also donating $10,000 on my behalf to the incredible people at Youth At Risk,” she says. “Things like that make my heart smile.”

To coincide with the release of her “Classic Beat” sneaker, the first weekend in October 2012 has been dubbed “Boss Lady Weekend” in New York City. Boss Lady will host the traveling sneaker event Sneaker Pimps as well as an exciting in-store event at Dr. Jay’s midtown flagship store and several other invite-only VIP affairs. And, make sure you check out the “Classic Beat” sneaker, which can be purchased through Dr. Jay’s, over here. We may be a little biased here, but we love the direction Boss Lady took these sneakers. Just like her, these make a statement and truly have the potential to go down as Reebok “classics.” What do you think about them?
