Was It A Good Idea For Dwyane Wade To Sign With The Chinese Sneaker Company Li-Ning?

Dwyane Wade isn’t down with Michael Jordan & Co. anymore. Just three years after leaving Converse to sign with Jordan Brand, D-Wade is on the move again. And, honestly, I can’t say that I really blame him. After all, in the three years he was with Jordan, he never really released a signature sneaker that caught on or got a lot of love. Sure, he probably got a ton of free Jordan gear and Air Jordans during his time with the brand. But, he’s Dwyane Wade! We’re sure he could have afforded all that stuff even if he wasn’t down with #23. So, earlier this week, he announced that he was making the move to Chinese sneaker company Li-Ning for the 2012-13 NBA season.

So, what should we expect from the D-Wade and Li-Ning deal? Well, for starters, Wade already has a new sneaker dropping through the company. As you can see from the photo above, there’s not a whole lot that we know about the sneaker at this point, outside of the fact that it has Wade’s last name “WADE” branded onto it. It also features zig-zag-printed shoelaces, and it includes some sort of leather on it. But, the photo also includes the date “10/10″ on it, which indicates the date when we should know more about Wade’s new sneaker. That date also just so happens to be the day before the Miami Heat play the Los Angeles Clippers in an exhibition game in Beijing next week, so look for more details on the sneaker to become available then.

In the meantime, what are your thoughts on Wade moving from Jordan Brand to Li-Ning? We see how it’ll probably make him more appealing to an international audience. But, in the past, only guys like Metta World Peace, Evan Turner, and—gulp—Brian Scalabrine have served as celebrity endorsers for Li-Ning. So, what gives here? Why would D-Wade think that this is a good idea? And, will the Li-Ning sneakers support his already-fragile legs, knees, and ankles? That is still to be determined. But, while we wait for Wade to show off his Li-Ning sneakers for the first time, let us know what you think.
