Cissy Houston Wants To Withhold Bobbi Kristina’s Inheritance Out Of Fear She’ll End Up Like Whitney

Bobbi Kristina is the sole beneficiary of Whitney Houston‘s estate, but if her grandmother gets her way, it won’t be that easy for the 19-year-old to get ahold of the money. Reportedly, the late pop icon’s money has been put in a trust, with Bobbi Kristina getting a portion of it when she turns 21, more at 25 and the balance at age 30, but Cissy Houston fears what will happen to her granddaughter when she gets access to her mother’s millions.

The Houston family’s 79-year-old matriarch’s biggest concern is that a few of the individuals in Bobbi Kristina’s life, including her creepy (my words, not hers) brother/boyfriend Nick Gordon and father Bobby Brown, will spend the money like water if they ever got the chance. She also worries that Bobbi Kristina’s life will become a blur of drugs and alcohol, paralleling the life and death of her mother, who died last February from an accidental drowning due to the effects of heart disease and cocaine use. According to TMZ:

“…Cissy wants to wait until Bobbi has matured significantly more before she gets her money … an estate estimated at $20 million … though it’s unclear how long she wants her to wait.

As for allegations Cissy is trying to withhold Bobbi’s fortune to hoard the money for herself — Cissy is telling friends that’s total BS … that’s it’s about protecting her family.”

Last week, Cissy and Whitney’s sister-in-law Pat Houston, who was managing her career at the time of her death, requested a modification of the distribution schedule in her will. No word yet on when the court will decide on the matter, but in the meantime, the entire Houston family will star in a reality show called The Houstons: On Our Own, which premieres on October 24 on Lifetime. It’ll be interesting to see how the Houston family dynamic plays out on a reality show.
