Add “hero” to T.I.‘s ever-growing resume.

The rapper, actor, VH1 reality star, father, husband, and more was at the right place at the right time when Creed frontman Scott Stapp attempted to kill himself.  Stapp shared the story of his brush with death on VH1′s Big Morning Buzz and revealed how the hip-hop star saved his life.

“I had met T.I. back in 2004, we were both writing songs for The Passion of The Christ: Songs Inspired By soundtrack and we had briefly interacted there and knew what each other looked like,” the 39-year-old rocker revealed. “We’d talked about being fans of Alabama.”

Stapp gives further details of the dark period that caused him to jump off the balcony at the Delnao Hotel in Miami Beach, Florida in his new memoir Sinner’s Creed. Luckily for Stapp and his million of fans, it was an attempt that would prove to be unsuccessful. “It’s ironic — [T.I.] walked in, and I found out later it was the only room left in the hotel and he came in off the street and came out, and as I’m laying on the ledge, blood fell to [T.I.'s] feet and he looked up and he had an Alabama hat on,” Stapp confessed. “I said, ‘Roll Tide,’ and then he looked at me and put two and two together and really saved my life. He immediately took care of the situation and saved my life.”

Listen to Stapp tell his story below. How cool is that?
