Meek Mill’s Debut Album Dreams & Nightmares Out Today

On the heels of Kendrick Lamar‘s much-lauded Good Kid, m.A.A.d City debut album comes Meek Mill‘s long-awaited Dreams & Nightmares.

While both are mired in the streets, Meek is much more traditional in his execution. Gruff raps tinged with desperation and force show he’s thankful for the new blessings in his life but at the same time, grappling with them. The album comes after over a year of preparation: he starred in DrJays.com‘s own “Summer Sensations” campaign back in May last year, toured as part of Drake‘s Club Paradise and then out on his own (supported by DJ Drama), released mixtapes (Dreamchasers 2 being the most recent) and more. In a period where hip-hop is finally beginning to show its diversity not just off the radar but on mainstream charts again, Dreams & Nightmares couldn’t have arrived at a better time.
