Jamie Foxx may be adding comic book villain to his already vast resume. Reportedly, the stand-up comedian turned actor, who’s portrayed everyone from Ray Charles to Muhammad Ali‘s boxing partner on the big screen, is in talks to play the villain in the next movie in the Spider Man franchise. According to Variety:

“Sources also told Variety that Foxx would play Electro, and Foxx later tweeted, ‘Dressed up as Electro for Halloween last night. Costume fits well.’

Electro is the alter ego of Max Dillon, an enemy of Spider-Man who gains the ability to control electricity after being struck by lightning. Created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, the character first appeared in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man #9′ in February 1964.”

Jamie is one of the busiest African American actors in Hollywood. His upcoming films include the Quentin Tarantino directed Django Unchained (scheduled for release on Christmas Day) and White House Down (scheduled for release June 28, 2013), in which he plays the President of the United States.

The Amazing Spider-Man, which was released over the summer, has grossed $751 million worldwide. The sequel is slated for a May 2, 2014 release.
