Blake Griffin Recreated Michael Jordan’s Iconic “Jumpman” Pose Before A Game Earlier This Week
Recently, Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin became the latest NBA player to sign an endorsement deal with Jordan Brand. After rocking Nike sneakers for his first few years in the league, BG will now be wearing nothing but Air Jordans and Jordan Brand sneakers for at least the next few seasons. Hopefully, he’ll eventually earn his own Jordan Brand signature sneaker, although there’s a good chance that that won’t happen for another year or two. But, he’s definitely a great get for the Jordan Brand, who seem to be stockpiling talent right now having just signed similar endorsement deals with Russell Westbrook, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, and a gang of other present and future NBA stars.
Earlier this week, BG felt like celebrating his new relationship with the Jordan Brand. So, he pulled off something pretty special prior to the Los Angeles Clippers/Miami Heat game on Thursday night. He had a photographer capture him going up for a dunk in warmups. And, in doing so, the photographer captured BG looking exactly like Michael Jordan did during the 1988 Slam Dunk Contest. Seriously, just look at that photo. BG is replicating MJ’s iconic “Jumpman” pose and paying homage to one of the greatest dunkers to ever do it.
Kudos to Jordan Brand for coming up with the idea to have BG perform this pose. But, we’ve gotta give a lot of credit to Griffin here. It’s not easy to make yourself look like Michael Jordan. And, we have to believe that it was even more difficult to pull this off with all of his teammates around and with the stands filling up at the Staples Center. He managed to do it, though. And now, he’ll always have this pic of him looking exactly like his new boss. Pretty impressive, huh? Take a look at MJ’s pose below and compare the two photos for yourself.
