Last year, Nicki Minaj was featured on the Rick Ross hit, “You The Boss.” But, when the rapper signed up to be a judge on American Idol, she realized she was no longer the head bitch in charge.

In a recent interview with E! News, Minaj opened up about the hardest part of taking a seat between fellow judges Keith Urban, Mariah Carey, and Randy Jackson. And, as she explains, her much publicized feud with Carey has nothing to do with it.

“I’m not really used to having to show up somewhere at a specific time,” Nicki admitted. “I kinda been my own boss for a few years, so this is like adding discipline back in my life. This is adding that strict regime of having to do something. Everybody’s affected by what I do.”

For the past three weeks, Minaj has given fans a rare glimpse at her world via her E! special Nicki Minaj: My Truth and hopes that the series will help the public realize that her outlandish costumes are just a piece of her facade.

“I think my fans know, but maybe the world doesn’t know that I’m not always like that,” she says in the video. “Like when they see me running around and changing wigs and being crazy and saying, ‘Ahhh! Where’s the steamer!’ You know, that lasts for a moment and then we’re laughing and cracking jokes at each other like ten minutes later.”

Minaj’s new album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded—The Re-Up hits store tomorrow. Are you buying it?
