Remembering Hector “Macho” Camacho (Video)

The boxing world lost a legend over the weekend as former world champion Hector “Macho” Camacho lost his life after he was shot in the face by an unknown assailant. The flamboyant fighter brought a certain charisma to the sport that was both brash and crowd pleasing. People loved to hate Camacho but nobody could deny his boxing ability. He won titles at super featherweight, lightweight and junior welterweight and fought the likes of Julio Cesar Chavez, Oscar De La Hoya, Felix Trinidad, Sugar Ray Leonard, and others. The Puerto Rican sensation’s career record was 79-6-3 with 38 KOs, but it was his antics and style that most will always remember. A troubled youth, Camacho found his way off the streets through boxing but his life after the sport saw him struggle with drugs and constant run ins with the law. Despite his transgressions, we will always miss “Macho.”

He passed away at the age of 50.
