What Would You Do If Best Buy Sent You Five Apple iPads When You Only Ordered One?
Do you know someone named Alexa? Then, there’s a small chance that you could be getting a very nice Christmas present this year! Recently, a woman named Alexa ordered an Apple iPad from Best Buy. No big deal, right? After all, millions of Americans have ordered iPads this holiday season. But, when her package from Best Buy showed up, Alexa opened it to find five iPads instead of just one.
Most people would consider that a score, activate an eBay account, and get to work selling their extra iPads to make a little extra Christmas cash. But, not Alexa. Instead of keeping the iPads, she immediately reached out to Best Buy in an effort to try and return the tablets. But, they didn’t respond to her. So, she went a step further and got in touch with the Consumerist to try and find out what to do with the extra iPads. Then they reached out to Best Buy, who told Alexa exactly what to do with the iPads. And, you’re probably going to be surprised by what they had to say.
“Good afternoon, Alexa,” their response said. “Laura from the Consumerist contacted us here at Best Buy on your behalf. First and foremost, I wanted to let you know how much we appreciate your honesty. That is so rare in this day and age and I sincerely thank you! We here at Best Buy acknowledge that we obviously made a mistake, but in the spirit of the holidays, we encourage you to keep the additional iPads and give them to people in need—friends, family, a local school or charity.”
How awesome is that? Free iPads for everyone! Er, okay. Not “everyone.” But, if you know a lady named Alexa, you might want to be extra nice to her for the next two weeks. Just sayin’.
