Do Spike Lee’s Knicks-Inspired Air Jordan XX8 Make You Rethink Your Opinion On The Sneakers?
On Thursday night, the New York Knicks took on the Los Angeles Lakers during a nationally-televised game that saw the Knicks pick up yet another W. But, to be honest, the game was a bit of a letdown as the Lakers got off to a slow start—play some defense, fellas!—and were never really in contention. That doesn’t mean we changed the channel, though. In fact, it was nice to see the Knicks make a major power move for once—and it was fun to see Spike Lee get all loud and rowdy on the sidelines while his Knicks did some damage on the court.
It was also interesting to see Spike wearing a pair of the brand-new Air Jordan XX8 sneakers. While the sneakers aren’t available in stores yet, Spike’s got a good connect over at the Jordan Brand who laced him with his own special pair of XX8 sneakers. Rather than the bright green color that the regular XX8 features, the XX8s that Spike wore featured the Knicks orange and blue colors on them. And, you know what? They actually made us appreciate the sneakers a little bit more. The way Spike wore them with the sheaths unzipped and pulled down to reveal the Knicks colors underneath was actually kind of fresh.
Does that mean we’re going to line up to buy these in February when they hit stores? Probably not. They’re still way overpriced at $250. But, it did make us think that, if Jordan comes out with more cool colorways like this one, we might consider picking up a pair at some point next year. That said, we’re not sure if the sneakers Spike wore will actually hit retail or if he just got them because he’s Spike Lee. But, if Jordan is smart, they’ll release more colorways like this one in stores. It’ll definitely get more people excited about the controversial sneaker.
Would you wear these? Check out the official photo below and let us know.
