Drake Demands Financial Compensation For Creating “YOLO”
Drake‘s demanding any brand or company that uses his now famous motto of YOLO (“You Only Live Once”) start paying up.
The Canadian rapper/singer is threatening to take legal action against chain stores like Walgreens and Macys that are using the saying on their merchandise and making a profit from it. Drake has been taking photographic evidence (or having someone on his team do it) and blasting the images out via his social networks, remarking “You gotta either chill or cut the cheque.”
Drake introduced “YOLO” in his hit song “The Motto” featuring Rick Ross, from last year’s Take Care album. It became so popular that it was recently up for nomination in Oxford Dictionary’s “Word of the Year” category (which ultimately went to the term “GIF”).
