Jennifer Lopez Says She’s No Diva In Harper’s Bazaar: “I Dress Myself, Comb My Kids’ Hair”
You can call Jennifer Lopez a lot of things—a mother, a daughter, a sister…just don’t call her a judge.
After two seasons serving on the panel of American Idol, the 43-year-old superstar was so over it. “I’m not a judge for a living,” she explained in the forthcoming February 2013 issue of Harper’s Bazaar. “I’m a singer. I’m a dancer. I’m a performer. I’m an actress. That’s what I’m supposed to be doing. It makes me a better parent, a better person.”
Shot by Katjia Rawles, Lopez graces the pages of the fashion magazine in some of the world’s most desirable designers, including Paco Rabanne, Roberto Cavalli, Fendi, Balmain, Versace and Tom Ford. But, she insists there is more to her life than wearing pretty dresses. “I like the whole idea of traveling, of looking good, and doing it well,” she says. “I make it as simple and as beautiful as I can because my life is kind of big. So I pack my luggage, or dress myself, or comb my kids’ hair, pick up their clothes—that makes our life beautiful, you know? There’s something very elegant in that. I think I can just handle more than the average bear, you know?”
One thing Lopez seems to be handling well these days is her much younger boyfriend, 25-year-old Casper Smart. After failed relationships with Sean Diddy Combs, Ben Affleck, and Marc Anthony, the Latina lover thinks she may have found the one. “He’s fantastic, he’s like my best friend,” Lopez said of her lead choreographer. “I can tell him everything, when I’m feeling good. He gives moral support, endless love and support.”
