The Nike LeBron X “Cork” Will Be Released In Stores Next Month
Did you pop a few bottles of New Year’s Eve? Nike did, too. Er, sort of. To help celebrate the new year—and, more importantly, to help celebrate the NBA championship that LeBron James and the Miami Heat won last June—the Swoosh announced that they have finally given the Nike LeBron X “Cork” a release date. If you remember, Bron-Bron rocked the LeBron X “Cork” sneakers back in October when the Heat opened up their season against the Boston Celtics and received their championship rings just prior to the game. And now, Nike is giving you a chance to own them, too.
As we told you a couple months back, the LeBron X “Cork” is made up almost entirely of genuine cork and leather. The upper part of the sneaker is comprised entirely of cork, while the tongue is made out of leather. These were designed in order to make people think about popping bottles, which the Heat did after they won their first ‘chip in almost a decade, and to pay tribute to King James for winning his first NBA title. They’re sure to go fast when they hit stores and will probably be a collector’s item one day.
So, when can you get your hands on these? Well, they’ll hit stores on February 23. However, we’re not sure how much they’re going to retail for yet, because Nike hasn’t announced how much a pair of the LeBron X “Cork” sneakers will cost. But, if we had to guess, we’d say that they’ll probably go for well over $200 initially and the price will likely jump dramatically once they hit the secondary market. So, if you’re interested in scooping up a pair, mark February 23 down on your calendar and prepare to act quickly. These will go fast. Get yours while you can.
